With unemployment at historically low levels and recent college graduates earning six figures in high-tech jobs, it is becoming increasingly difficult for state and local governments to recruit qualified information technology (IT) employees. The Texas Comptroller's Office estimates that there are about 800 unfilled IT jobs in Texas state government at any time.
