And here we thought you were a serious legal scholar.

Then, what do you do? After all these years of writing scandalous, provocative, outrageous original legal scholarship--with constitutional commentary being only one of many and diverse (sorry about that word, Jim) areas of legal interest and expertise; after all these years of being one of the anchoring forces of Constitutional Commentary, as a contributor, editor, and manager (or what passes for that, in our shop); after all these years as a mainstay of the University of Minnesota Law School faculty-probably the most productive scholar and writer on a faculty that has had many bright stars during your years; after all of these years of skewering--nay, positively impaling!--all opponents with your inimitable style and an intellect matched only by writing ferocity, what do you do to us?

You go off and become, of all things, a dean. Ish.

I'll say it again. And here we thought you were a serious legal scholar. Sigh. Indeed, even your anonymous creation and alter ego, Gil Grantmore (one of your many personalities) was a serious legal scholar and beloved contributor to Constitutional Commentary, publishing more frequently and intelligently (as you, in your ever-so-kind-and-gentle manner so often...
