WE OPERATE IN A BUSINESS WORLD INCREASINGLY RELIANT ON EMAIL, TEXTING, SKYPE AND VARIOUS OTHER VIDEOCONFERENCING SERVICES. COMMUNICATION AMONG BUSINESSPEOPLE HAS BECOME MORE EFFICIENT, BUT IT'S OFTEN LESS PERSONAL. FOR MANY BUSINESSPEOPLE, THIS DIGITAL REVOLUTION HAS ACTUALLY HEIGHTENED THE APPEAL OF GOLF AS AN OCCASION FOR UNINTERRUPTED FACE-TO-FACE DISCUSSION AND A CHANCE TO GET TO KNOW SOMEONE IN A CASUAL SETTING.

It's probably been a decade or longer since I first heard of companies giving employees free cell phones and paying for unlimited usage. Nice, but clearly a double-edged sword. While it sounded great to have that expense covered and be able to offer around-the-clock availability, it also meant that whether you were a CEO or an office worker, you were now tethered to your work, maybe not 24/7 bur certainly beyond the old 9-to-5.
