The foundation creates partnerships among citizens, corporations and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to support a variety of projects-- including bat protection, tree plantings and other activities.

Since the board of directors first met in November 1995, the Illinois Conservation Foundation has raised more than $5.6 million in contributions, The foundation was established by the Illinois General Assembly in 1994 to accept tax-deductible donations from a number of sources throughout the state for specific Department of Natural Resources initiatives.
