Indeed going green is good for the environment, but did you know that it can also help your business succeed financially? Everyday, businesses and corporations alike are making the switch to purchasing more environmentally friendly products and are seeing the benefits in their bottom line.

While the initial costs of environmentally friendly products, such as florescent light bulbs, may cost a few dollars more, the long-term benefits could save you thousands of dollars, if you do it correctly. According to Energy Star, small businesses can save more than $15 billion by reducing its energy consumption by 30 percent. Switching to energy efficient light bulbs, turning off useless lighting and shutting down computers when not in use are simple ways small businesses can reduce their energy consumption.

As with paper usage, businesses can start saving money by using recycled paper and setting the printer default to double-sided printing. By doing this, you can actually reduce your paper usage by up to 50 percent. In addition to saving on paper costs, businesses can save 25 to 50 percent on ink costs by purchasing reusable ink cartridges.
