Active voic e

when the subject of the sentence is the doer of the action; actor (noun

or pronoun)–verb–supporting material.

Adjective

part of speech; a word that modies a noun or pronoun.

Adverb

part of speech; a word that modies a verb, adjective, or adverb.

Article

a type of adjective that makes a noun specic (the) or indenite (a, an).

Clause

a group of words containing a subject and a verb that is part of a

sentence.

Coherence

when the sentences (or paragraphs) t together.

Colon

a punctuation mark used after a statement that introduces an

explanation, an example, a quotation, or a series (:).

Complex sentenc e

a sentence that comprises a dependent clause and an independent

clause.
