PositionOrganization overview

More than a century ago, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants had a few hundred dollars and 40 members.

Today, because of you, CalCPA is the nation's largest statewide association of CPAs. You and your peers have allowed our organization to flourish, and today we are 40,000 strong.

CalCPA has more than 3,000 "Life" members. That is to say, we have more than 3,000 CPA members who have been active in our organization for at least 40 consecutive years. Life members are the bedrock of CalCPA, and each new professional member has the opportunity to follow in their footsteps.

SHINE

You shine in the Golden State's business community. California is home to Hollywood, wine country and Silicon Valley. California has more than 3 million small businesses, the most Fortune 500 headquarters in America and is the world's eighth-largest economy.

At the heart of these successful industries and businesses are sound, financial decisions. And at the heart of all sound, financial decisions is the CPA.

CalCPA members are California's leading business and finance professionals. By staying on top of the accounting profession's latest best practices, trends and regulations, CalCPA members enable good business to flourish in our state.

Did You Know?

We have nearly 2,000 financial literacy volunteers who teach more than 10,000 middle and high school students how to budget, save and plan for financing college each year.

FUTURE

You start and you start early. CalCPA has 5,000 student members that are at colleges and universities across the state. Our student members connect with potential employers and our profession's leaders by attending local networking events, applying for scholarships and participating in our Campus Ambassador program. They are jump-starting their careers and securing the future of accounting and business in California.

You strengthen your voice. More than 300 CalCPA members show up each year for CPA Day at the Capitol and visit with state assembly members, senators and legislative staff to discuss issues of importance to CPAs and their clients. Throughout the year, members mobilize to send letters and emails to the governor and other legislators to help chart the course of how accountancy is practiced in California.

LEADERSHIP

You lead CalCPA and the accounting profession. CalCPA members hone their leadership skills to add value to their companies and the accounting and finance community.
