Getting tough on abortion.

Thank you for the story "The Moment I Became a Feminist" (by Terry Tempest Williams, April issue). I would like to add some thoughts to it.

Before every single abortion comes a man who wouldn't wear a condom.

As a woman, I am tired of being held fully responsible for that which could not occur without two participants.

If these men, and women, want the symptom of abortion to stop, they need to address the preconditions of abortion.

Education is key.

Teach children the full story about biology and the human body.

Teach children growing into young adulthood that while abstinence is preferable, a condom is necessary.

Teach girls that love and sex are not the same thing, that self-image doesn't come from whose arm they are on.

Teach boys they are just as responsible as the girls are for making babies.

Allow frank discussions about birth control options for the inevitable act, and allow sex education in schools, before our children become young...
