Thank you for publishing Christopher Johnson's article on alternative transit (July/August issue), full of facts and figures on how America will pay dearly if we do not launch a nationwide high-speed rail system. I do not think that Mr. George Will has had the chance to read this article or he would not have said that progressives' passion for trains "diminishes the idea of American individualism." At what cost does Mr. Will want to maintain such individualism? When the nation spends close to $160 billion...
