To help people during the recession, First National Bank of Griffin (assets: $300 million), Griffin, Ga., introduced an automatic savings plan.

The bank created a typography driven TV spot that highlighted a "Save the Day" savings plan, combining automatic savings drafts and overdraft protection for any checking account customer.
