Kannapolis, North Carolina, is a thriving city located northeast of Charlotte in Cabarrus and Rowan counties along the Interstate 85 corridor in the heart of the Piedmont region, the fastest-growing business corridor in the southeastern United States.

Kannapolis covers 31 square miles and has a population of approximately 38,245. Between 1990 and 2000, the city grew 28 percent. Kannapolis' growth is projected to continue, reaching a population of 50,087 by 2010.

Kannapolis is served by three airports, Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, Concord Regional Airport and Statesville Municipal Airport, and three ports, Charleston, S.C., Wilmington, N.C., and Morehead City, N.C.
