Gearing up.

As the calendar turns to spring, our industry starts preparing for the busy travel season ahead. Conferences and trade shows will take us all over the country--and work--to observe the latest and greatest that our industry has to offer. Plus, countless suppliers will peel back their facilities' curtains for open houses, providing more opportunities for education, live product demonstrations and networking. Of course, Labelexpo returns to the Americas in 2020, meaning those who could not make it to Brussels can witness the newest product launches side-by-side in September.

I'm looking forward to learning about the latest in digital printing, flexo supplies, low migration inks and everything in between. Since I joined Label & Narrow Web more than five years ago, the technological developments have been nothing short of astonishing. The influx of automation and data has positioned labels and packaging to succeed well into the future. When visiting converters, it never ceases to amaze me how seemingly small investments can create such substantial ROI benefits.

For me, however, the people are this industry's greatest asset. While talking to Tom Staib, president and owner of DWS Printing, he made the prescient point that, "We can accomplish a whole lot more together as a group." I truly appreciate the enthusiasm and camaraderie that's present in the industry. This positive outlook helps foster a healthy exchange of ideas and promotes learning.
