GCI announced it is turning a new page in local telephone competition when it launches a new Juneau-area telephone book later this year. More than 48,000 copies of the new White and Yellow Pages phone directory will be distributed to all Juneau residential and business customers in September, and will include listings as far south as Ketchikan and as far north as Yakutat, as well as hundreds of Yellow Pages ads. According to GCI President Ron Duncan, the new Juneau Phone Directory will bring more competition to the local telephone directory market in the form of lower Yellow Pages advertising rates for both GCI customers and non-customers.
