According to a new report by the Government Accountability Office, the SEC has some work to do to shore up its internal controls.

The report states the SEC has not:

* Consistently implemented agency policies and procedures;

* Sufficiently tested and evaluated the effectiveness of controls for a major system as required by its certification and accreditation process; and

* Consistently taken effective and timely action to correct deficiencies identified in remedial action plans.
