I read with interest Eduardo Galeano's piece in your July edition. He writes: "I tried, I try, to denounce that old proverb which says that man is the wolf of his fellow man. It is a lie. Wolves never kill wolves."

That is, of course, nonsense.

Wolf packs often kill solitary wolves and may kill the alpha male of the pack after deposing him.
