N.G. v. Connecticut, 382 F.3d 225 (2nd Cir. 2004). Parents of two female juveniles brought a suit under [section] 1983 for damages and injunctive relief, alleging that strip searches of the juveniles in juvenile detention facilities violated their Fourth Amendment rights. After a bench trial, the district court dismissed the complaint. The juveniles appealed. The appeals court vacated and remanded. The appeals court held that strip searches conducted on female juveniles after their transfer from one detention facility to another were unlawful because they were undertaken after the juveniles had been initially searched and had remained in custody.
