Preface

Missouri Business Transitions

In 1973, The Missouri Bar published its first two-volume work, Missouri Corporate Practice, an adaptation of a book entitled Closely Held Corporations published by the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education in 1971. In 1978, there was an extensive supplementation of the deskbook, which included the replacement of four of the original nineteen chapters. Subsequent efforts to supplement the original work were unsuccessful, and a new, all-Missouri deskbook replaced Missouri Corporate Practice. This work was Missouri Corporation Law and Practice, published in 1985 and supplemented in 1988 and 1991. With Missouri Corporation Law and Practice, the number of chapters in the deskbook grew to twenty-six.

In 1996, MoBarCLE published a new, revised deskbook that included new chapters on Limited Liability Companies, Limited Liability Partnerships, and Statutory Close Corporations, and the name of the book was changed to Missouri Business Organizations.
