Should Kansans Care About a National Presence?

This year, the Young Lawyers Section went through a major transition period. Our board sought to overhaul both the approach the YLS takes as well as its mission. We came up with a few primary goals and objectives for this coming year:

1. Outreach and Education. This was our primary goal for the year "” to get back out across Kansas, to provide education to young lawyers through free continuing learning programs, and to provide a sense of community to the section.

2. Mock Trial. This has traditionally been run by the YLS for some time, but the program needs an overhaul and a new direction. Our president-elect, Morgan Geffre, has almost single-handedly been managing this pillar with extreme efficiency and fervor.

3. National Presence. We were shocked to learn that Kansas YLS attendance at ABA events across the nation has been poor and that we have been giving up a valuable voice for many major...
