Staring Down the Pandemic: How the Bar and its Members Have Risen to the Challenge

Kelly M. Neville, Brown & Hiser, LLC Laramie, Wyoming.

We are in unique times. As we all learn to navigate the “new normal,” know that the Bar is here to support each of our members. Also, our membership is stepping forward in amazing ways to support each other and the public through the pandemic.

The Bar’s website (www.wyomingbar.org) serves as a central source for up-to-date information on COVID-19 important to your practice as you navigate cases through this time. It is regularly updated with links to various court orders, announcements, and frequently asked questions. Click on “News & Publications” in the top navigation and then look for “COVID-19 and the Legal Profession” on the right-hand side for blog posts on relevant content on COVID-19, CARES Act, EEOC, workers compensation and the like. Reach out to Sharon Wilkinson at the Bar, swilkinson@wyomingbar.org, if you have a great post or an idea for a topic.

Follow the Wyoming State Bar on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for links to articles and resources on practice management assistance, ethics guidance, mental health and wellness tips, expanded member benefits and state and federal assistance, information programs and more.

To better serve the needs of this population, the Bar recently instituted a listserv geared to small/solo practitioners to facilitate connections with other small/solo practitioners and the discussion of the many unique challenges related to this type of law practice. This listserv can be an invaluable resource to discuss a myriad of COVID related topics such as how to safely bring clients and staff back into your office, work from home issues, video conferencing and depositions, and technology challenges and tools. To subscribe to the listserv, email join@lists.wyomingbar.org and specify “Small and Solo” in the subject line. Active participation in posting and discussion will make this a worthwhile group. Support of small/solo practitioners is a prong of the Bar’s strategic plan so look for further resources and support in the future.
