We begin ASMC's 60th Volume of our Armed Forces Comptroller with this edition. The first Armed Forces Comptroller was published in July 1956; thus for almost 60 years, ASMC has been providing its membership financial management information via important, thought provoking articles about the many facets of our profession. I thank all of the authors over the years that have contributed so much to the success of our ASMC journal in providing professional development information.

This edition of our Armed Forces Comptroller, devoted to the theme of "Audit Readiness: Climbing the Mountain," continues our tradition of providing relevant and timely Information to our readers. Achieving auditability of Department of Defense financial statements is among the top priorities of DoD leadership. External auditors have already been identified via contracts with the Department and the engagements for audit of the Statements of Budgetary Authority (SBA) are underway. In addition to an article from the US Coast Guard about increased asset visibility and articles from the Departments of the Army and Navy regarding audit readiness, the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) provided an article with information concerning key USACE activities associated with their overall annual audit...
