Kansas History Leans Toward Compassion

t's that back-to-school time of year. I pulled into the parking lot of my seventh graders school just in time, fresh off client meetings in Wichita and boasting a limit of crappie from my stop at Melvern Lake. I met the new teachers, saw the new classrooms, and suddenly had a calendar full of various school, cheer, and choir events.
Kansas History is taught in seventh grade. The 2024 KBA Annual Meeting focused on a significant part of Kansas history: Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka. I was raised to feel extremely proud of Kansas's history, especially on the issue of race. And I still am.
