I am humbled to be your new president of the Kansas Bar Association. I recently visited the Robert L. Gernon Law Center in Topeka, and I stopped to study the plaque on the wall dedicating its grand opening on Oct. 14, 1981. As I looked over the list of contributors, I found my granddad, Fred Ice, and my dad, Ted Ice, among those listed. I felt emotional and inspired to see their names, along with the many others who contributed to the building project.
