I commend Ruth Conniff for serving as an international election observer in Mexico ("Lessons in Democracy from Mexico," August/September issue). It was a happy day for me when, in 1953 at the age of twelve, I arrived in this country from Mexico. Even happier was the day when I became a naturalized U.S. citizen at age twenty-one.
