Basic Bio: Sarah was born in Lovell, Wyoming, and graduated from Rawlins High School in 2005. In 2007, she graduated from Northwest Community College in Powell, Wyoming, with an A.A. Degree. She received a B.A. in 2009 from Chadron State College, Nebraska, majoring in Criminal Justice Administration. She then attended the University of Wyoming Law School, receiving her J.D. in 2012. Following law school, Sarah worked for the City Attorney’s Office in Rawlins and is currently the Chief Deputy and Prosecuting Attorney with the Carbon County Attorney’s Office, where she handles felony cases such as drug and sex offenses. Sarah is also an adjunct professor at Western Wyoming Community College, teaching Introduction to Criminal Justice and Criminal Law.

The Thing at excites me most about my job is the people I work with. I spend more time with them than I do my family, and they have become some of my best friends.

The most rewarding part of my job is working closely with law enforcement personnel, who are some of the best people I know. I love teaching new officers, giving presentations on topics like search and seizure, and collaborating with agents on big drug cases.

The worst part of my job is assisting law enforcement with 3 a.m. search warrants.

The best advice I have for new lawyers is the advice given to me early in my career: You will learn the most about the practice of law in your first few years, so take advantage of it. Stay late, work hard, and find good mentors who will push you to be better than you were yesterday. And find a job that you don’t need a vacation from. The practice of law is stressful enough; if you don’t enjoy what you do, you’ll be miserable.

After I leave work, the thing I am most passionate about is summer softball season.

My favorite activity in Wyoming is camping and fishing. I went ice fishing for the first time this past winter and it is now one of my favorite winter activities.

I give back to my community by refereeing and coaching kids’ soccer at the Rawlins Recreation Center.
