I found the interview with Thomas Frank excellent except for his reply to the last question (Interview by Elizabeth DiNovella, July issue).

Frank comments that the Democrats needed to convince people that bailing out the banks was the right move in order to avoid a second Great Depression. As noted in his earlier observation of a "Let the failures fail" sign, bailing out the banks is not something that people naturally want...
