Michelle K. Lee, the former under secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (OSPTO), was appointed to the Board of Directors ofAlarm.com Holdings, Inc.

Lee, who is the current Herman Phleger Visiting Professor of Law at Stanford Law School, where she teaches disruptive technologies and intellectual property, was the principle adviser to President Barack Obama on domestic and international intellectual property policy matters when working for the patent office. She is the first woman to serve as Director of OSPTO in the country's history.

Prior to her government service, she spent most of her career in the Silicon Valley in technology, business and law, most recently as deputy general counsel for Google and its head of patents and patent strategy.
