A former registered nurse at Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Miami will spend 60 months in prison after pleading guilty to altering and falsifying VA computer records.

The court record states that Enrique Martinez Mathews interfered with an internal investigation at the medical center related to the death of a veteran in Martinez's care. The investigation revealed that Martinez had altered the patient's records while the patient recovered in the surgical intensive care unit.
