Foreword to the First Edition
Fundamentals of Franchising®—Canada is a truly exciting accomplishment for
the Forum on Franchising. For years, many of the Forum’s most active and
professional members have been our associate members from Canada. Having
the 2004 Annual Forum on Franchising in Vancouver, Canada, gave us the op-
portunity to present an Intensive Program on Canadian franchise law, and it
quickly became apparent that the work that was going into this Intensive Pro-
gram would make an excellent monograph.
All of this may sound obvious, but in fact this publication was developed,
written, and published in record time and is a testament to the hard work and
organizational skills of the authors and editors. I would like to join the editors in
their thanks to each of the authors. The entire team has shown tremendous pro-
fessionalism and focus to complete this monograph. I would especially like to
thank Peter Snell and his co-editor, Larry Weinberg—their ideas originally led to
the program and the monograph—and John Baer, the Forum’s Publications Of-
ficer, who took the lead in shepherding this book to completion.
Thank you.
