FOREWORD

The Antitrust Law Section of the American Bar Association is pleased

to present this fifth edition of the Antitrust Health Care Handbook. This

handbook provides comprehensive guidance regarding how courts and the

U.S. antitrust agencies review and analyze antitrust issues in the healthcare

industry.

The Section is indebted to the many experienced practitioners who

contributed to the Antitrust Health Care Handbook. The Section’s

Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals Committee devoted substantial time and

detail to this project. We are especially grateful to John Carroll, the lead

editor of this publication and who applied his substantial experience

regarding healthcare antitrust issues to this project. We believe this

handbook provides a practical and valuable resource to healthcare

practitioners and their clients.
