The secretaries of the Navy and the Air Force signed an agreement to form an alliance between the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, and the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), in Monterey, Calif.

The partnership is designed to provide servicemen and women with a "relevant, high-quality education that is more aligned with defense needs while eliminating duplicate degree programs and consolidating educational resources," according to a Defense Department news release.
