Re: "Beyond the Slaughter House" (October/November issue): I have a recurrent nightmare, even when I'm awake, that a higher form of life, but just as cruel as humans, comes to Earth to breed some of us for food, to hunt others for sport, and to use others to entertain them in circuses and racetracks.

Thanks to animal rights advocates, wearing furs is no longer fashionable. Likewise, I hope that those who are vegetarians for ethical reasons, and those working to produce "real meat without killing animals," will inspire others to become...
