You may soon have a hard time finding Gorgonzola, Muenster, and Swiss cheeses at the supermarket. In trade talks with the U.S., the European Union has asked American dairy companies to stop using cheese names associated with Europe. They say it's not really Parmesan, for example, if it doesn't come from Parma, Italy, so Parmesan produced in the U.S. should be labeled "Parmesan-style." The E.U. thinks the bans--which could extend to other foods (see below)--would help Europe sell more products in the U.S. while protecting the reputation of Europe's high-quality Foods.
