Women In Defense features professional development and networking opportunities with a view toward cultivating the advancement of women leaders in government and industry professions. As such, the interests and the professions of our members are diverse. WID membership in the environmental area continues to grow.

Rebecca Patton, a senior associate at Booz-Allen and Hamilton, has been largely responsible for promoting WID membership among women in the environmental arena over the last five years through a series of workshops held during NDIA's Environmental and Joint Service Pollution Prevention Symposia. Having just completed her term as managing director of WID's HORIZONS scholarship foundation, Patton currently is serving on the WID board as membership director. She is a chemist by education and specialized in environmental management during her 14-year career with the federal government. She has been actively supporting government clients with environmental consulting services for the past five years.

Also serving on WID's board of directors is Heather Owens, of Versar Inc. Owens joined WID after a friend suggested she attend the WID Breakfast at the NDIA...
