A joint venture team ofFluor Corp.andWalsh Construction Co.of Chicago has been selected as the preferred partner to design and build Phase I of theRed and Purple Line Modernization Programfor the Chicago Transit Authority. The $2.1 billion project will be the largest capital project in Chicago Transit Authority's history, ultimately resulting in expanded capacity and improved infrastructure along the region's most used rail lines, according to a news release.

Fluor plans to book its share of the undisclosed design and construction contract value in the first quarter of 2019.
