Brian M. Karpf,
Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Brian M. Karpf is a
partner with Young,
Berman, Karpf, and
Karpf, P.A., in Boca
Raton, Miami, and
Fort Lauder dale, Florida. He is a
Florida Bar Board- Certied Family Law
Attorney and Florida Supreme Court
Certied Family Me diator. Brian is a
Fellow in both the Ameri can Academy
of Matrimonial Law yers (AAML) and
international Acade my of Family
Lawyers (IAFL ). He focuses his law
practice exclusive ly in the areas of
family and divorce law, including
litigation, appeals , mediation, and
prenuptial and pos tnuptial agree-
ments.
Brian is presently the V ice-Chair of
the ABA Family Law Sec tion (FLS). He
has served on th e Executive Council of
the FLS since 2010 and has chaired
and/or serve d on nearly every
substantive Se ction Committee. He
continues to Chair commit tees while
serving as the FL S Secretary.
Brian was appointed by the
president of the Florid a Bar to serve on
its Family Law Rules Commi ttee until
2017, and he was elected to the Board
of Governors of the Florid a Bar’s Young
Lawyer’s Divi sion, a role he held until
he aged out. He now fo cuses his
efforts alm ost exclusively on the ABA
FLS, attending every Conference and
nearly every committee me eting,
including those he no lo nger ofcially
sits on. He ser ved on the Board of
Directors of Kid Side, whose mission is
to provide funding to ens ure that

Section members will elect Section of Family Law Ofcers and Council Members for the 2022–2023 bar year at the 2022 ABA
Family Law Section’s Annual Business Meeting in Chicago. To be eligible to vote, an individual must be registered for the
meeting and be a nonstudent member of the Section whose good standing can be certied by ofcial Association records for
thirty days prior to the day of the voting. Here are the Ofcer and Council nominees:
Family Court Ser vices serve the needs
of children and parent s suffering from
family conict. Karp f now sits on the
Board of Director s of LEV Traveling
Children’s Museum. He i s also a fellow
of the Florida Bar’s Leade rship
Acad emy.
Karpf is a frequent au thor and
presenter on a variet y of family law
and social media topic s. Karpf was
named by Super Law yers in Family
Law for every year sin ce 2013. In 2014
he was honored by the Cys tic Fibrosis
Foundation as one of So uth Florida’s
Top 40 Lawyers Und er Age 40. He also
received the Rising Sta r Award in
South Florida Busines s and Wealth’s
Leaders in Law award s. Karpf is also
recognized as one of the Be st Lawyers
in America in the eld of Family L aw.
Vice-Chair

Lyne Ranson,
Charleston, WV
Lyne Ranson is
located in Charleston,
West Virginia. She
has been an attor ney
for thirty- eight years,
now exclusively prac ticing and
mediating complex famil y law
matters. Sh e is the founding member
of one of the largest law r ms in the
state devoted sol ely to family law
matters. Fo r the last several years she
has served as Ch air of the West
Virginia State Bar family law commit-
tee. Lyne has been ver y active in the
ABA Family Law Sectio n (FLS) with
broad experienc e as CLE co-chair for
several years, ser ving on Council, the
Long Range Planning committee,
chairing the Alimony & Spou sal
Support and Ma rital Property
Committees as w ell as being appoint-
ed to the Nominating and Fina nce
Committees . Last year she served as
Secretary fo r the FLS. Lyne was
selected as a fe llow in the AAML and
serves on their Bo ard of Governors
and is Co-Ch air of Chapter Leaders.
She has been a st ate, local, and
national family law speaker pre sent-
ing topics on alimony, valuing mari tal
property, client management,
dividing family busine sses, and
prenuptial agreeme nts. Lyne was
previously a Trial Advocac y Skills
instructor fo r many years at WVU
College of Law and at the U. S.
Department of J ustice when she was a
federal Assis tant U.S. Attorney. She
was elected as th e second Circuit
Court Judge in th e state. She enjoys
traveling, family, and spendin g time in
Florida at her second h ome.
Secretary

Jennifer A. Brandt ,
Philadelphia, PA
Jennifer A. Brandt is
chair of the Cozen
O’Connor Family Law
group. She has
signicant experience
representing par ties in divorce,
custody, and suppo rt/alimony matters
throughout both Pennsylvania and
New Jersey. She assi sts parties in
adoptions, guardianship issues and
matters conce rning assisted reproduc-
tive technology. Her involve ment in
family law litigation exte nds to both
the trial court and app ellate levels.

post-nuptial, and co habitation
