Candi, a former chair of t he Ala-
bama State Bar Family Law Sec tion,
was honored to be chos en by her
Section peer s as the 2013 Attorney of
the Year.
Candi has been ac tively involved
in the ABA Family Law Sec tion since
joining in 2000. Sh e has served on the
Section’s governing C ouncil (2011–
present), Continuing L egal Education
Committee (20 09–2018), and Sponsor-
ship and Fundraising Comm ittee. She
is a former chair of the Alimo ny Com-
mittee, ser ved as the Section Secre-
tary (2018-2019), and currently se rves
as the Section Vi ce Chair.
In 2014, Candi was honored to
receive the 2014–2015 Chair’s Award.
She is a fellow in the Alabama C hap-
ter of the AAML an d the IAFL. She is
also certied by t he National Board
of Trial Advocacy as a Family Law Trial
Advocate. Candi is co nsistently chosen
as one of Birmingham Alaba ma’s Top
Attorneys in the area of Family L aw
by Birmingham Magazine, and she
was also recognized by the s tatewide
publication, Alabama S uper Lawyer
Magazine. Peeples is a fre quent CLE
presenter for bot h local and national
organizations.

Family Law Section’s An nual Business Meeting in Chicago, IL . To be eligible to vote, an individual must be regis tered for the
meeting and be a non student member of the Sectio n whose good standing can be cer tied by ofcial Associatio n records for

Thad Woody is the
Executive Partn er
with the law rm of
Kessler & Solomiany,
LLC in Atlanta, where
his practice focus es exclusively on
family law matters . He also serves as
an adjunct profes sor at Georgia State
College of Law, where he te aches
family law and domesti c litigation.
Thad has exten sive experience repre-
senting clients in mat ters relating to
divorce, child suppor t, child custody,
prenuptial agreeme nts, legitimation,
and paternity ac tions. He has success-
fully represented a va riety of clients,
including notable entertain ers,
athletes, and high-prole executives.
Thad is trained as a Guard ian ad Litem
and has perform ed pro bono services
on behalf of the Atlanta Law yers
Foundation.
Thad has been an ac tive member
of the American Bar A ssociation Sec-
tion of Family Law for over a dec ade
and currently ser ves as the Secretary
of the Section. Ad ditionally, he served
for three years as the Co -Chair of the
Continuing Legal Educa tion Com-
mittee, where he wa s responsible
for planning legal edu cation oppor-
tunities for member s of the Section
throughout the countr y. Thad has
served on variou s Section Committees,
including Strategic Planning, Nominat-
ing and Finance. He also t akes a spe-
cial interest in expan ding the reach of
the Section and ha s worked as both a
Chair of the Diversit y Committee and
the Fellowship program to f urther
promote diversit y and inclusion initia-
tives within the Sec tion.
Thad received a Bache lor of Arts
degree from the Unive rsity of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill, wh ere he
also served as S enior Class President.
He earned his Juris Do ctor from the
University of No rth Carolina School of
Law. Following law school, h e served
as a law clerk to Chief Justi ce Sarah E.
Parker of the North Caro lina Supreme
Court. He is a me mber of the United
States Supreme Court, Georgia State
Bar, North Carolina State Bar, and the
Supreme Court o f the Eastern Band
of Cherokee Indians and is f requently
listed as both a Sup er Lawyer by
Atlanta Magazine and a Legal Elite by
Georgia Trend.
