In 1962, just three years after statehood and seven years before the giant oil discovery at Prudhoe Bay, four individuals, ... Al Vacura, George Dujmovich, John Hajdukovich and Joe Carie founded Florcraft Inc., in Fairbanks, Alaska. In those days it was just a small "mom and pop" operation in the state's interior city.

34 Years Old

Today, 34 years later, the company is owned by Richard Wien, John Hajdukovich and Robert Hanson. Florcraft, with increasing sales of over $8 million annually, is one of the state's oldest and largest providers of carpet, ceramic tile, vinyl and hardwood flooring, wallpaper and window coverings. Their products are available in all price ranges to both residential and commercial customers alike.

"The company was founded on two very basic and simple guiding principals," according to Robert Hanson, the company's current president. "Provide the best possible product at the best price; and give the customer the best possible service."

"That philosophy still guides the company today," says Hanson, "even though we now have over 40 employees, one store in Fairbanks, one in Wasilla, and two in Anchorage, including the Floormart location in the downtown area.

Alaska's Largest In-Stock Inventory

"We have over 20,000 square feet of warehouse space that allows us to maintain Alaska's largest in-stock inventory worth over a million dollars," Hanson explains. "So it's a good bet that we will have just what the customer wants somewhere in our system. And since all of our stores are connected by computer, finding it is easy."

Florcraft handles carpets from some of the world's most recognized and renowned manufacturers such as Karastan, Bigelow, Bently, and Carpet One.
