Flexo Label Advantage Group LLC (FLAG) recently held its 7th Annual Members Meeting this past November in San Jose, CA, USA. "FLAG was extremely pleased to have Mike Weinberg, a best-selling author, as our guest presenter at this year's Annual Members Meeting," says John McKay, president and founder of FLAG. "One of the highest ranked issues facing independent label converters today is the challenge of growing sales. Mike's content and direct style were perfect for not only our converter members but our vendor partners, as well."
FLAG presents key partner awards at each Annual Meeting. This year's recipients included Fujifilm as Vendor Partner of the Year, Dan Bendele, president and CEO of IPW with the Brad Brown Strategic Partner Award, and Bob Ambrose, UPM Raflatac, with a Special Recognition Award. "Acknowledging those whose have provided exceptional support and commitment to FLAG and all of our membership throughout the year is very important to us," says McKay.
One of the highlights every year is a tour of a FLAG member facility. "Creative Labels, Inc. of Gilroy, CA did an incredible job hosting our member tour this year," says McKay."They have a tremendous business. It's not every day that independent label converters get the opportunity to visit other shops and maybe pick up an idea or two that could help their own processes."
"FLAG is a group of our own peers who get down to day-to-day business issues on a much more candid level sharing ideas and solutions. The financial benefits of'strength in numbers' is but one of the main benefits. The new FLAG peer groups forming add even more value," explains Sandy Franzcn, president, Creative Labels Inc.
FLAG provides buying group savings on the most commonly used materials. Savings are on substrates, tools and dies, inks, prepress, digital equipment, overlaminates, shipping and more. It offers top line new label sales growth opportunities, catastrophic planning, networking opportunities with other label industry professionals, and a variety of new technical and business resources. "FLAG offers independent label converters benefits similar to what large national converters can provide for their facilities," McKay concludes.
