Fisher-price is rock 'em, sock 'em again.

Remember Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots, the ultra-crazy fight game in which two bruising cement heads duked it out in the ring while throwing punches at the discretion of whoever was running the push-button controller?. To use television terminology, Fisher-Price, Inc., East Aurora, N.Y., has come up with an ingenious "spin-off" involving everyone's favorite cartoon character, SpongeBob SquarePants.

In Karate Choppers ($19.99), named after the hilarious episode seen on Nickelodeon, SpongeBob and Sandy Cheeks are dressed in their gear and ready for some karrah-tay action. Kids just grab the SpongeBob or Sandy controller to activate left or right jabs, fun sound effects, and a variety of ring chatter until they knock off one of the characters' helmets. Yup, before it's all over, there definitely is going to be some serious kicking of squirrel tail and sponge. If SpongeBob wins, he declares, "Victory is mine!" If Sandy triumphs, he's met with, "Nice try, SpongeBob ScaredyPants." The required three AA batteries are included.

The sports excitement in the Fisher-Price lineup doesn't end with karate, however, as the Shake 'N Go Speedway ($39.99) brings car racing right into your den or living room. This interactive track features flashing lights and all the sounds of a real speedway. Kids can choose from an open-ended play mode that lets them speed their cars around the track continuously, or race mode, which sets the autos against each other--the first one to complete a set number of laps, wins. What's really cool is the IR technology--it actually "knows" who won the race and announces it at the finish. When the Speedway is in race mode, kids learn quickly that the race is "won or lost in the pits." Will just a few shakes be good enough for victory, or should they spend more time shaking it up in the pits?
