First National Bank Alaska donated $1,000 to help Kenai Peninsula salmon reach U.S. troops serving in Iraq. The effort was originally organized by Soldotna Mayor Dave Carey and his brother, Mike Carey, a Vietnam veteran. Their project stalled when organizers realized regulations prohibited shipping civilian gifts with regular cargo from Fort Richardson in Anchorage.
