Supermarket shoppers in the Seattle area can now buy groceries without cash and without plastic. ALL they need is a fingertip.

In an early example of biometric identification for consumer transactions, the West Seattle Thriftway market is offering customers the option of using the Pay By Touch service developed and patented by Indivos Corp.

Customers who wish to use the system must first enroll by permitting the market to record a template of their fingertip and by designating an account from which to draw funds--one or more credit, debit or checking account.
