To measure how individual "freedom" impacts business performance, governance advisory firm LRN constructed a Freedom Index from a survey of over U.S. 800 executives.

The index assesses 'Freedom From/Freedom To' across four spheres of influence--employees, customers, supply chain partners, and community groups--and gauges the extent to which freedom animates relationships within those spheres.

The index also quantifies the impact of freedom on corporate performance in financial results, innovation, and long-term success High-freedom companies generally outperform their lower-freedom counterparts For example, they are at least 10 times more likely to achieve high levels of financial performance
