As a longtime opponent of public funding of sports stadiums, I welcomed Dave Zirin's mention of the shameless attempt by absentee Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf to pry as much as $1 billion out of the State of Minnesota for a new stadium ("High Price of Concussions," October issue). Wilf can and should pay for the stadium himself, since only he would profit.

Wilf, a resident of New Jersey who commutes to Vikings games in a private jet, owns a team that has been valued at more than $700 million. Yet he applies pressure while the state tries to figure out how to meet a $6 billion deficit.
