These are certainly interesting times for anyone responsible for treasury, foreign exchange or financial risk management. Just ask Marie Hollein CTP (CD), Director of Advisory in Financial Risk Management for KPMG LLP, who works with many non-financial and financial companies in a variety of industries. "The subprime issues have affected a number of companies in some way, and senior management must begin to really focus on their company's risks," she states.

The topic of treasury management and foreign exchange is one reason that Marie became interested in Financial Executives Research Foundation (FERF). "I met Hal (Henry A.) Davis at an FEI Summit a number of years ago. He had written several research studies for FERF, including one on foreign exchange risk management," she explains.

Marie had been active in FEI's Chicago Chapter for years, including two years as chapter president, and she often attended the Mid-West Area Leadership Board meetings. She heard the FERF presentations at these meetings, and became very interested in the foundation's research program. So when she was invited to become a trustee of FERF, she gladly accepted.

Marie came to Chicago by way of Pittsburgh, where she had worked in the treasury department of Westinghouse for nearly 20 years. Citibank...
