The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Advisory Committee on Improvements to Financial Reporting (CIFR) held its first meeting at SEC headquarters in Washington, D.C., on August 2. The committee's chair, Robert C. Pozen, chairman of MFS Investment Management, was formerly vice chairman of Fidelity Investments (and represents mutual funds on the committee).

Several FEI members are among the 17 distinguished members, representing various constitutencies: Denny Beresford, professor of Accounting, University of Georgia, former FASB chairman and an inaugural FEI Hall of Fame Inductee, who is also a director and chairs audit committees of three public companies (he represents Fortune 500 audit committees); Susan Bies, former Federal Reserve governor, represents banking regulators; Christopher Liddell, CFO, Microsoft Corp., represents Fortune 500 companies; G.
