FEI member Susan Schmidt Bies, Ph.D. (Memphis Chapter) was nominated to the seven-member Federal Reserve Board to serve the remainder of a 14-year term that expires Jan. 31, 2012. If confirmed, Bies will be the only banker and the only woman on the board, which forms the nucleus of the Federal Open Market Committee that sets U.S. monetary policy.
