Mark D. Moyer (New York City Chapter), CFO of Ziff-Davis Media, participated in the American Accounting Association's (AAA) August program for professionals interested in becoming "professionally qualified" to teach at the college level.

Due to the shortage of Ph.D.s in accounting, schools have agreed to allow a certain proportion of "professionally qualified" (PQ) professors, in addition to those traditionally considered "Academically Qualified" (AQ) to teach, those holding a Ph.D. PQ is defined as those who qualify due to significant experience in the accounting profession working in industry or auditing.

Moyer was one of about 50 participants, among them financial executives from tax and other disciplines, forensic accountants, auditors and others. FEI Director of Technical Policy Analysis Edith Orenstein, who also writes FEI's Financial Reporting blog, also attended the program. Through the blog, FEI helped promote the PQ program.
