The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Alaska Region presented an Outstanding Partner Award to the Alaska Native Village of Point Lay. The work honors work by village residents last September to protect walruses.

Last fall thousands of migrating Pacific walruses hauled out on the Chukchi Sea barrier beach within sight of Point Lay.
