Fear of an Active Shooting Incident.

Active shooter incidents are taking their toll on the public's perception of safety. In a study of Americans spanning all states and backgrounds, CentralSquare, Lake Mary, Fla.--a public safety and administration software firm--found that nearly one in three respondents expressed concern about an active shooter incident occurring within his or her community.

In addition, almost 30% do not feel safe walking around their community at night. However, the study found that these concerns vary among demographics.

The younger generation, who grew up with active shooter drills in school, expressed more concern--46% of Generation Z (born between 1997-2001) and 39% of millennial (1981-96) indicate they either are worried or very worried about active shooters, compared to 22% of baby boomers (1946-64).
