The Fairbanks Convention and Visitors Bureau received the 2005 Destiny Award for Marketing Programs and Special Projects from the Washington DO-based Travel Industry Association of America during the annual Education Seminar for Tourism Organizations in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The Destiny Awards are awarded by the National Council of Destination Organizations, an industry council of TIA.

The FCVB won in the "Special Projects Category" for securing direct winter charters from Japan Airlines.
